Medical and Life Updates

It has been quite a while since I’ve posted any updates, so this will be a bit long.

First off, Pop Pop has had a rough time lately. He was having trouble bleeding and ended up in the hospital. He stayed there quite a while after being diagnosed with pneumonia.  From there, he has been transitioned, once again, to a rehab center to recoup. I’m sure Tufu is missing him big time!

Sierra is fighting her disability battle due to her Fibromyalgia filing to continue her child benefit from me past her 18th birthday. She was denied, and we appealed. So she meets with my lawyer shortly, and will probably spend a couple of years fighting this.

Kenzie has finally been diagnosed with ADD. We are in the process of filing this with the school so she can get the extra help she needs.

Brian‘s hemorrhoids are back, and it looks like surgery is on the horizon for him.

We got a new puppy! We got our chihuahua, Gizmo, just before Christmas.  He is now 4 months old. He loves his bunny sister, Bun Bun, and his bunny niece, Thumper.

As for me, there’s a lot to post! First off, the mass on my kidney is gone! It completely disappeared without a trace! It also does not look like I was ripping a hernia, as I suspected. They’re guessing more adhesions.

My left foot/toe pain persisted, and I was sent for an MRI. The doctor diagnosed me with bursitis near the base of the big toe, and he said it explained why the pain has lingered.

The biggest piece of news is this: my oncologist is sending me for weight loss surgery. Besides the obvious benefit, he is hoping that the surgery will actually fix the problem I am having which prevents me from eating sitting up. (For those who don’t know, if I eat sitting up or too far upright, my stomach rejects the food and it comes up on me.) I’m a bit worried about getting this done, because almost everyone I know who had it had major complications. And, of course, with the new 2015 criteria for getting bariatric surgery, there are a LOT of hoops to jump through. It will take 3-6 months of pre-surgical counseling before the insurance will pay for this, plus a whole lot more. Anyhow, I go for the seminar at the hospital tonight, and my first appointment is like in a week. When Brian heard that I was getting this done, it motivated him to look into it, as well. His seminar is next month. We will have to stagger our surgeries, because it won’t do for both of us to be recovering at the same time!

I know, it is a lot to digest. I am going to try to update all this more often.
