Updates on Sharon and Me

Well, I am posting this a day later than I expected, but better late than never.

Things turned around in just a few short days. My Aunt Sharon went from needing to truly be in a nursing home or assisted living environment, to suddenly  doing too well to go in one! (Thank you, to everyone who has been praying for her.) She has been holding conversations, simply at least. She just all around seems a lot better. So, she was discharged this morning and came to our house today. She still does not fully understand what happened to her, that she has had continuing strokes or the seizures. She doesn’t understand how this all made her dementia worse. And she does not truly understand that she can never go to her home and live alone anymore. Physical and occupational therapists will be coming for in home therapy. I guess we will see if they recommend a home health care nurse. I also still have my concerns about things like the front steps and the bathroom. Who knows? They might demand the tub be ripped out and replaced with a disability friendly shower. (I’m getting one myself when I eventually get out into the summerhouse.) And a ramp be put in front. I will keep everyone updated, even if it is brief messages on Facebook.

Brian and I went to the sleep doctor today. It is kinda funny because we are there for polar opposite reasons: he can’t stay awake, and I can’t get to sleep. We both have medication changes coming, and Brian will have a different kind of sleep study than normal in January. Hopefully my new meds can get me some sleep, they just need to clear them with the PCP first. And hopefully Brian’s medication change can keep him from falling asleep behind the wheel and killing himself, or sleeping at work and getting in trouble there. I see my primary doctor soon, so maybe someone can try to figure out why the heck I’m still weak and ill since July. This is just dragging on and on.

Other than that, my parents are having a Christmas party this weekend for their antique car club, and the house is kind of in an upheaval over it. I’m trying to keep myself calm and away from the massive cleaning efforts. I don’t need to get sick from the dust kicking up. I guess that’s all for now. More updates soon!
